zak marinkov

Zak’s connection to the Susquehanna River runs deep. Raised in a family that spent summers camping on the river’s many islands, he grew up with the water in his blood. From a young age, Zak was drawn to fishing, spending every spare minute biking to local creeks and farm ponds, and by 16, he had purchased his own boat to explore the waters further.

With over 25 years of fishing the Susquehanna, Zak has developed an intimate knowledge of the river’s fishery. He is a proud 25+ year member of the Overview Anglers Club and has been an active participant in local tournaments for much of his life. His expertise also extends to helping veterans through the Wounded Warrior Bass Bash, where he’s been providing guided fishing trips for veterans since 2017.

Beyond his passion for the Susquehanna, Zak’s fishing experience spans many of the Northeast’s waterways, expanding his understanding of how to target the region’s prized black bass. Whether it's navigating the challenging waters of the Susquehanna or fishing other bodies of water, Zak’s broad knowledge base makes him a versatile and skilled guide.

As a Technology and Innovation Lab Teacher with 20+ years of experience in both public and private schools, Zak’s passion for teaching extends beyond the classroom. He thrives on sharing his expertise and helping others grow. His summers are spent teaching his two teenage daughters the joys of fishing, reinforcing his belief in the importance of connecting with the great outdoors.

Zak specializes in fishing the clear, low waters of the Susquehanna during the summer months, where his RockProof boat, equipped with a 115 Yamaha Jet, Minn Kota trolling motor, and Lowrance electronics, allows him to access hard-to-reach spots and navigate even the most challenging areas of the river where the biggest bass reside.

Though Zak’s teaching career brings him great satisfaction, guiding has become his true passion—a way to share his love for the river while helping others improve their skills. His approach to guiding is centered around customization: whether you're looking to enhance your casting technique, discover the best fishing spots, or simply enjoy a relaxing day on the water, Zak is committed to tailoring each trip to meet your needs.

Zak’s reputation as a guide is built on years of dedication, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to his clients. His goal is simple: to ensure you have a fun, productive, and memorable day on the water.
